Our Mission

Liberation Fab is creating custom bicycles with people who seek joy in movement, performance in comfort, and utility in mobility. 

These three pillars inform the decisions we make from the materials we build with to the colors of paint we use. We seek out collaborators who share these values.

Joy in Movement

Whether running errands or at the start line of a race, we think that bikes are ultimately tools that bring us joy through movement. Our frames are unabashedly joyful, playful, and ready for fun.

Performance in Comfort

We wholeheartedly believe that comfortable is efficient and efficient is performant. Bicycles are machines that harness our body’s movement with amazing efficiency. To maximize that, our design philosophy is to make you as comfortable as possible. Every body is different and custom frames are a stellar way to maximize your performance goals through a perfect fit.

Utility in Mobility

To us, a bicycle represents the ultimate vision of mobility autonomy. It’s a vehicle that lets us navigate urban or wild spaces at our own pace and cover an amazing amount of ground under our own power. We believe that the bicycle can be a useful tool for everyday life, once-in-a-lifetime adventures, and everything inbetween!

Our Vision

Liberation Fab has its origins as a bicycle company, but we quickly realized that was quite a narrow definition of what we want to do long-term. Historically, bicycles have been designed for a small subset of body types and abilities. Our vision is taking this fabrication knowledge and applying it to a more diverse set of tools for people of all bodies and abilities.

Liberation Fab is empowering personal and collective liberation through handmade mobility tools.

Personal Liberation

We want to empower individuals to go places and do things they previously didn’t think possible. Whether that’s going to the grocery store without a car, finding joy in movement, or pushing physical limits, we want to be there to help!

Collective Liberation

We strongly believe that a loving connection to others through community is central to humanity’s wellbeing. Our mission is to bring people together and support collective actions in whatever way we’re able.

Handmade

Everything we make is crafted with hands and heart. Some machines help us along the way, but there will always be a person behind every product we sell. We believe that the subtle human imperfections in our work are beautiful and should be cherished.

Mobility Tools

When looking at tools that people use to navigate their world, we couldn’t help but see a line between the classic bicycle design and the wheelchair. We also couldn’t help but see a sizeable gap in tools that were affordable, beautiful, and ultimately useful. The Liberation Fab philosophy is to view the bicycle as a tool used for mobility, like the wheelchair, but for people who fit a fairly narrow definition of “able bodied.” We’re committed to exploring, innovating, and improving access to mobility tools for people of all abilities whether that looks like a custom bicycle frame, wheelchair, handcycle, or creating something entirely new.
